what a great day!

first, i woke up with jah isaac after a full twelve hours of sleep, drank coffee, and enjoyed how sweet my son is first thing in the mornings. i usually dont see him when he first wakes up because i am gone to work, so when i do it is just the most special time for us.

next, i cleaned the house and got us dressed warmly so i could take jah isaac to the park and shoot photos of him in the snow. he loves the snow. even when he was not outside, he was playing with snow in big tupperware bowls in the living room floor builing mini-snowmen. it made him so happy. he seemed to find himself in a winnie-the-pooh movie, and was quite at home.

after viewing shots of isaac on my camera, i was overwhelmed with the urge to get his hair cut. this has been on the table for a while, but we have been hesitant to do more than just trim his bangs. i called jason and let him know that i simply had to go ahead and do it, and then took jah isaac and got about four inches chopped off. he was so amazingly well behaved. i really could not believe it, even with a dumdum in each hand. i told the lady that she had no idea how lucky she was for that. his hair is still relatively long for a little boy's, and it looks so darn cute. i know nana is going to be excited, because we can go get some good pictures now. (hi betty!)

ears freshly lowered, i vacuumed out the car and then got us home to get ready for Disney on Ice and for my gig later in the night. we made the mad dash to the FedEx Forum as soon as jason got home from work, and wow that place is nice. the box we were in would be perfect for a small group of adults to make use of at a concert or game. it worked well for us at a family event, too. jah isaac stayed pretty into it for the first hour, but by the second one he was pulling the cushions off the leather couch and jumping around. i think next time some really close seats would be best for him, but he enjoyed it and we were thankful to be able to take him.

we left the show before it was over since isaac was past his limit and so we could beat the rush of people out of there. he went to his mamaw's so that i could play my gig and so jason could promote for his show next weekend. on the way to Murphy's we stopped at a friend's house party. i had thought it would be the total hipster crowd, but it turned out being a wonderful mix of loved ones i have not seen in a long time. it is so good to see people and pick back up with them like no time has passed, the bond as strong as ever.

murphy's was packed when i walked it, which, it turns out, is not hard to do to that place it is so small. strange that i live literally 200 steps from murphy's but have never been there. it is a classic dive bar, but the energy in there was great - not just a bunch of bodies, but an alive feeling. mary played great and then i had a set that was a gift from the goddess. mary left it at 121.5 and i just held it there because it felt right in that moment. my record picked themselves and people loved every minute of it. the best part came when i was playing an idjut boys track and decided to play 'deep inside' next. turns out my mp3 has a small space at the beginning and i was having trouble getting it cued up when i realized i was totally out of record. i decided to just drop it when the idjut boys was over, but then realized it had a beatless vocal ending. talk about the universe helping me pull it out of my ass! it could not have been more perfect - the heads in the room flipped out and everyone else to whom the track was new was blown away, too. the energy just maintained, felt good, and it was interesting how i was able to able the whole thing while taking part in it. thanks, amber and meisner.

and guess what? it was recorded. hopefully some of that energy is in the cut - we will see, and i will let you know when i have it and get it uploaded.

i stayed and danced a bit to brian's set, which was awesome. he played 'the audience' and also sean oD's old track, "the pledge." the floor stayed packed til well after the legal time the place could sell beer, and i am sure they had to kick people out.

now, i am going back to my couch because there is no heat in this room and i want to curl up in a blanket and read my book.
