Saturna

i love weekends like this. i will not be getting much rest, but i will be playing two gigs that are somewhat different, and seeing some people i have not seen in years, and meeting some new folks.

tonight is a great concept party called Throb, at Precious Cargo. it is four deejays, two vocalists, two spoken word poets, and a percussionist. the live performers will be doing their things over the deejays. i believe spoken word will be over my set, which works out great with a few tracks i have. deep house, with some afrobeat stuff.

tomorrow night is Disco Bloodbath, the Feel-Harmonic Halloween Bash at Murphy's. my friend Casey who moved to Portland years ago is in town and will be playing. i am excited to hear her, i have not really heard her play since she has come into her own. we were both bumbling still back in the day, i do not think she has really heard me since then, either. i am going to be playing pretty hard synthbass broken beat and crazy disco type stuff a'la Black Devil. should be interesting. i do not usually play Feel-Harmonic shows because my deep house does not sync with the hipster crossover crowd. maybe having the last set when folks are trashed and a little crazier music will keep me a dancefloor for a bit. we'll see.

i have decided on the Killer DJ costume for saturday night. i love that it is a play on words. really what ultimately decided it for me is that i want to be comfortable while i play records. no wigs or flowing costumes for me, thank you. this way i can just wear my headphones, carry a record broken to a point, and apply some fake blood and voila! it will be funny to see people guess.
