transportation

thinks are, slowly, but surely, moving along on the vehicle fronts. my car is parked in the back gathering dust for the moment. it appears to have some issue beyond the diagnosed transmission failure and the experienced (and very scary) steering thing. something about the gas flow, because i put ten bucks in and the next day it felt like it was out of gas. the gas gauge does not work and has not since it was purchased, but i did not drive ten dollars worth of miles. who knows.

thankfully, jason got the other car fixed. that was an entire debacle with autozone, who initially sold us the wrong battery with polarity reversed. so in hooking it up, we blew something. i was gearing myself up to march down to autozone corporate, which is located here, and demand that they pay for parts to replace whatever blew - since their whole advertising schtick is basically, "you can be a car idiot and we will help you sort it out." the manager was pretty unhelpful. kevin, the nice associate, was very nice and essentially prevented me from having to picket downtown somewhere. it was a fuse, a protective measure for reversing your polarity.

so there is no heat or radio, but i can get to work. it is not so cold here yet as long as the sun is shining. and we checked out a used saturn the other day through melanie's unkle. it looks like it might be the perfect buy, but i am taking it to the saturn dealership monday and paying to have them give it a full workup. if it works out, it will be the nicest looking car i have ever driven. it is espresso brown, basically black, and looks nearly brand new with the exception of some scratching on the rear fender from being parked in San Francisco for a few years on all the hills. easily self-repairable, according to my dad.

on another vehicle front, since i feel that musical equipment is a vehicle in the sense that it helps to free my heart and soul - someone sold jason a technics 1200mk3 yesterday for $75 bucks. wow, they must have really needed some money. that is a steal for a technic in working order. so i am going to check into buying a new tonearm for the technic that is sitting there and access another mixer, and then there will be a fully-operational rig set up here at all times. stationary. that will be so nice. over half of the battle of my broadcast is whether the equipment is in the building and set up. if it is in the building, it is usually broken down and will then need to be broken down the very next day to go out for a gig. this is all not even counting whether someone is here to hang with jah isaac, but if that is the only element i need to cover, then things will be much easier to manage. i miss my show terribly, so this is an excellent sign of getting that all sorted and being able to play music every week. yay!

Good news about your car. My friend Jason has a Saturn, and loves it. And they are cute too.

It was funny about your gas gage, because Blacky(my old truck) didn't have a working gas gage. I never know how much gas was in it. I knew when it was running out of gas, because the fuel indicator would rise, (go figure) and it also had no heat.

In my current car, I always have to check the antifreeze (pain), because if it empties, and does from time to time, there is no heat, and the car could over heat, not a good thing.

I think I have paid plenty of karmic dues with my car(s), and would venture to guess, or at least hope that I am done.

Oh and good stuff about the music. We need LOTS of music.

I meant to say good news about the musc equipment. What ever it takes to free your spirit, and play, and express is awesome,

the way i have been gauging the gas is just filling up the tank and going 200 miles, then refilling. i think the tank is bigger than that, but it gets close, and that was what emily, the girl who sold me the car, told me she did.
