toilets and deadlines

my son is already, at barely eighteen months, such a kind and loving little dude. i take him with me at least once a week when i clean houses, and today, instead of demolishing the work i had just done in his fervor to explore this amazing new world, he was helping me.

he stood and watched while i cleaned a toilet, without trying to reach in (gross!), and when he saw i was done, he closed it, and clapped his hands. of course, after much clapping and yaying, i then had a thought of what if his first memory of me is of me scrubbing a toilet???

at which point i had to stop and remind myself of my own mother's lesson that regardless of the work you do, if you put your honest effort into it, you have no reason to feel shame.

to watch jah isaac take in everything with such wonder is truly a blessing. daily, i have a moment where i am reminded of the simple joy of being on this earth.

ironically, i went directly afterwards and picked up the last piece of the package i need to start my law school application process, which i have to get to fedex right down the street by 8:30, or i will have to drive to the airport by 12:30 for the next-day-air final cutoff... one benefit of living in memphis.

i didnt have a number 2 pencil... but it is not really due until tomorrow, the 6th. i am such a procrastinator, i thrive on the pressure of it i guess. so i am taking it by on my moms account today... she retired from there, hefty discount!

My mom used to clean houses, and just like you stated, I was never ashamed--and nor was she.

Your journal is very inspiring; you do so much with only two hands!
