the pox is not
it appears that what was really going on, or at least needed to be ruled out, is that our house was overrun with fleas. jah isaac's rash has not progressed like the chicken pox typically does. (this theory still does not account for his three day fever, but sometimes that happens.)
we already knew that something needed to be dealt with cat-wise, i just could not access my money so i had planned to wait until monday since the frontline stuff is so much cheaper at the vet than at a pet store. i did spray down the house with some Adams stuff, but it did nothing noteworthy.
it just reached a critical mass. heebie-jeebie central, and not knowing if it is fleas or what regarding jah isaac was making me feel like a terrible mother - both to the boy and the cats.
so today we pulled down every piece of fabric in the house. all curtains, all blankets, linens, towels, clothing - everything. i mean, everything. we did it all at the laundrymat to the tune of one hundred bucks, plus a lot of sweat. we also treated all the cats and doused all the carpets and beds and couches and chairs with Borax and let that sit while we washed.
we have since vacuumed every surface possible and i cleaned the hell out of the bathroom. the sheets are not on the bed yet and curtains are not up. but i feel assured that this place is on the way to being healthier for all of us.
and did i say yuck? YUCK!
