sliding

wow, my body feels like i was in a car wreck. what should have been a fairly easy workday for me yesterday turned into eight solid hours of cleaning. the first house was normal. the second house was one of my favorite clients, who is moving to DC to work for Fox News as a producer. maybe she can subvert their nasty partisan reporting in some way (fat chance!).

i thought from my email notes that she was already gone, house empty, so i expected a pretty straightforward clean. let's just say that a 2 hour gig turned into a 5 hour gig. i helped her get the rest of her little stuff sorted, carried out, and cleaned her house as if i were wanting to get my own deposit back. she always is very generous with tips, but gave me a super big one, as well as a trunkload of random stuff.

when i got home i went ahead and continued the cleaning job we started monday here at home. i rearranged jah isaac's room, donated some toys, and it looks so much better in there - like a real little boy's room, not just one big toy box. today it's only one house, and then Weezer is coming for a visit. we are going to walk to the little park and let the boy slide to his heart's content. well, probably not, since he gets hysterical whenever we leave, no matter how long we have been there, but he definitely gets to have some "all about isaac" time with mom and me today.

ever think about how rarely, especially as a parent, if you are one, we as humans actually get to have that "all about me" time? i know i suck at creating that time for myself, but i want to be sure to create it for my son if at all possible. just to let him know that he has full attention, and i am happy to fulfill his wishes as much as i can. i feel sure the slide will go a long way towards that. here's to all of us getting to slide on our slides today.
