rain, rain…
...go away, bother my knees some other day.
i love the rain. growing up my mother bestowed upon me an appreciation for books, for rain, and an ultra-appreciation for the two in conjunction. when it rains, i want to snuggle in my bed all day with a book so good that i only want to get up to urinate.
now that jah isaac has livened my life, this is not really an option, but i still love the rain, particularly this time of year. i love how the colors coat the ground after the drops have knocked the leaves off the trees... a multi-colored carpet. i love getting a little wet when i go outside, the fun of dashing through the water, knowing you will get wet but still attempting not to... the sigh when you reach your destination, as you wipe a drop from your eyelid.
i even love how the bottoms of my pants get a little damp if i step in the wrong place.
what i don't love is that my knees have decided that they hate the rain. they hurt most all of the time anyway, but when it rains steadily for days, my 60 year old knees remind my 30 year old brain (which still thinks its 20) that i am not getting any younger, and that the road ahead for my joints is not looking pretty in the least.
so, rain, i love you so much, but you have got to give these knees a bit of a break.
