Planet Waves Parenting

i am working as editor of a new project: Planet Waves Parenting

what you will find there:

a growing database of resources
articles on parenting and on being a kid, by parents and children
children's horoscope

and we hope, in time, community.

i would like to send out a request to those of you who are parents or who work with children. please go to the site, take a good look around, and provide us with some feedback.

i am not talking about "it's great!" i am talking about honest criticism. we need to know what is working, what is not working, what you want to read about as parents, etc.

we need to know what would make folks want to subscribe. we are not trying to make a bunch of money, just to keep the project afloat, and continue to provide positive information and perspective to parents around the world. we need only one new subscription per day to accomplish this. a subscription is $50 for the year, under a dollar a week.

for now the site is free, becoming subscription based with the new issue on March 21, at which time the bulk of the articles will be accessible only by password. the resources and horoscope will always be free.

please, please let us know what you think, and if you believe in what we are doing, subscribe.

I just went to the parenting site and it's no longer free, I got sent to a subscription page.

    Hi Summer!

I checked the page and it seems to be ok. Please try it again. There should be a letter on the front page and then links to the content on the right.

Please let me know if it works for you.

    Thanks,
    Lorin

i just checked it out. i don't have to much time to comment (and browse through it), but couple of things that are going through my head

IMO $50 is pretty steep. i don't do magazine subsriptions, but i don't think even national geographic is that much. and this is on line magazine.

maybe it's because of astrology, which is not something i would pay a lot of money for. maybe it could be tiered - if you want astrology, pay more? maybe i just don't understand market for it. if it was $15/year i think it woudl be more likely to get 3 people/day to subscribe than 1/day for $50. you will also be creating a community of people who don't want to/can't afford $50.

enough from me - i think it is a lovely site, and i would probably visit it more often - i like that it seems international, and very professional:-)

thanks for taking the time, branka!

i will pass on your words, and i also want to let you know that we turn no one away for the inability to pay. we give out comps in those cases, but we are also going to see about a scaled fee or something of that sort.

    much love, lady!
