other people’s trash
some of you may know that i am a bargain shopper extraordinaire. i rarely buy anything full price, only shop at the mall when i have gift certificates, and only buy things brand new when i have exhausted all other possibilities, with the only steadfast exception being shoes. (and woe is me that i went to DSW the other day - keep me away from that place!)
today was my first garage sale excursion of the season. jah isaac woke up in a great mood, maybe because we both crashed out at 930 last night, giving us nearly 12 hours of sleep. we got all dressed and headed out.
my findings:
3x5 wool rug for my kitchen $5
little table with drawers $5 (which i have decided to give to my mom)
3 neato glasses $1
one book $1 (If You Are Afraid of the Dark, Remember the Night Rainbow)
2 containers with an old world map design, like for a desk $.75
... and the steal of the day:
one art deco nightstand $15 (this thing is so heavy and has nice rounded lines, and a big drawer), which will be used as a coffee table of sorts in my studio.
i am very pleased. i never understand why people get rid of things that are so wonderful, but i guess i do the same thing sometimes. the first year or so of jah isaac's life i got hooked on all the house porn shows on HGTV. i have since learned how to "design on a penny." it is satisfying and fun to make our home more organized, easier to clean, and more enjoyable to be in, and everything i do i can take with me to the next place we live.
viva la other people's trash!
