on a [sucky] side note

there is no hot water in my house. this started this morning, i called the landlord.
he appeared about 2pm, and seemed to be working in the basement. by the time i returned from a couple of errands, he was gone, and the water was completely off. now, i am home from trolley tour, and the cold is back on, but no hot. and no word from him on what is happening.

i already boiled six huge pots of water to give myself a much needed bath earlier today. i will not be doing that again, unless tomorrow comes and there is still no hot water. but i will say - it sucks to not be able to just go in and have a warm bath. i really use that as a healthy centering thing, sometimes three times a day. boooooo.

when I lived in my ghetto apartment on merton, my hot water went out (a couple of times, and I refused to pay rent for that month). But I did the boiling water for the bath thing myself. It was kinda fun ONCE.

I hope the H2O works with hot and cold today.

yeah it is kinda fun ONCE. my bathroom is all the way across the house from my kitchen, and it takes a lot of pots of boiling water to get the tub to the right temp. plus, i have become very aware of how much i add hot water, once i adjust to the temp of the bath. i am sure he will fix it today.

did the shepard take care of his flock

  4. lorin:

the shepard is is downstairs in the basement, fixing the water heater, as we speak. jah isaac is extremely upset that i will not allow him down into that dank, dark, spider ridden area to help "Mr. Jim"

  5. Lorin:

ok, so now i am pissed.
he came, he turned the gas off.
    he left, never to return.
no hot water, no gas to cook with, or heat water with, and biggest of all -
    NO COMMUNICATION ABOUT THESE FACTS,
so a mother can make arrangements to take care of a very dirty four year old.
    how rude.

  6. BREtt @ emily:

lokk into renter rights .i know you have .but just a heads up .love ya lots

  7. arline:

I hope this is an old message, and that you now have gas AND hot water. How infuriating! Sometimes a KILLER deal can be a double edged sword.

  8. lorin:

the gas is back on and he also put a valve down in the basement so he can cut it off without cutting off the whole house.

water heater is not back on yet, he does not "have it properly vented yet." but at least i can make a hot bath.

  9. Lorin:

    yay! hot water!

  10. Tamra:

"...sometimes three times a day"? I think MLGW decided you had gone way over your hot water limit, so they sent some people from the Bureau of Sabotage to disable your water heater.

  11. MOM:

so can i safely assume you are happy that you do not have to "draw water", churn butter, gather wood, hand sew everything!!...How blessed we are that we live in this century. omg, sorry dont think i could have all the work the settlers did,,xixi mom

  12. lorin:

heheheh, i am just glad i have had some experience with being a dirty techno-hippie, from going to three day outdoor camp out raves in my heyday.

well, considering that my baths each are about one third of a full bath, and that i often share them with my son - i doubt they are using even as much water as a ten minute shower. good point, though.
