of internet and cable tv

so shortly after my last post, our internet went down and was down until yesterday. the time warner people said it was "probably an animal" having messed with the lines. turns out, it was time warner, on their big anti-piracy kick.

they shut down everything going to the house, from the tap, because there was some cable being stolen. when we first moved in, it took time warner over two months to get our internet to work properly. we were, understandably, pissed. the tech who finally was able to get it running well said, "since you have had so much trouble, i will hook up your cable for you." we thought, great!

since then, other people in the building have spliced it, so they just shut the whole line down. after a few calls to time warner, i finally got a nice service representative who actually seemed to care that i be satisfied customer, considering i have been a client of four years and wanted to add services. (beats me how the other lady i talked to wanted to be rude to me for wanting to add a service.) so, tomorrow, time warner is coming back with a digital box and remote and 140 channels, including lots of on demand programming for mr. jah isaac.

a couple of things: why is it, that if this house were not broken up into three apartments and we just wanted the cable into cable-ready tvs throughout the house, it would not cost extra, but since it is a triplex, it requires three separate accounts. seems like a ripoff, but we are talking time warner, what can i expect?

then also, i was one of those people who thought my child would never watch tv, but i cannot tell you the value of decent children's television programs, for those times when he does. i hope that there are some wonderful shows on some of these new channels, which i cannot seem to quite figure out on the very leading and confusing time warner site.

i have much more to write about, but will save it for some separate posts. glad to be back!
