of hands and feet

today i took my own advice (see previous post) and got out of the house for a little self-care. i decided on a pedicure, because i have little time to do those extra little things for myself.
i stopped by a couple of places within a block of my house, and they were both closed. so i thought i would drive to the closest mall (yikes!) as there would probably be a place open in there. thankfully, i found a little place long before the mall, went in, and was immediately helped. turns out this place is a gem. lots of place in midtown are cheap, but you get what you pay for. this place was inexpensive, they were kind, and they did an excellent job.
i sat myself in that massage chair, closed my eyes, and savored every moment - and i got a manicure while i was there as well, because it was quite affordable.
i do not go for polish on my fingers because i really dont dig it, and on top of that, it would simply peel right off come tuesday when i clean my first house of the week. i got a very light skin tone color on my toes.
it really is all about just sitting back, and letting someone else take care of you for a moment. letting someone who is an expert clean up your cuticles, rub your feet, bring a little life back into them, and you.
the women (and one man) who were there were not well-to-do, and every single one of them was kicked back, eyes closed, reveling in that moment of peace. i imagine that many folks go for the experience moreso than the brightly colored paint, at least, it looked like these women did.
i got no nap today, but i feel refreshed. amazing what an hour can do.
