mom is ok
my mom is doing well after her heart catheterization today. she was scheduled for 10am, didnt go in until 1pm, but by 1:30 we knew that they were going to be able to just do a stent of her vein, and avoid more open heart surgery.
they had to use one of the non-drug-coated stents, because her vein is so small the heparin stent would not fit. so there is a 25 percent chance she will grow some scar tissue over the next six months, but we are all looking at it like there is a 75 percent chance that she is totally in the clear. the docs will keep an eye on her over the next six months to a year.
for now, she has no blockage and she is staying the night at the hospital, no doubt holding one of her nurses up, asking questions or telling funny stories.
after all of the hoopla, she still didn't pack even her pajamas, convinced (in denial) that she would be completely outpatient, so i had to run get her stuff. i didn't mind. she thought i did, but what i mind is her tendency to be glib about the realities of her body. instead of acting like everything is peachy keen, let's work within the limitations and thrive, ok mom?
i love you so much and am so glad you are ok.
thank you everyone for all of the love and prayer and kindness you have been sending our way.
