letting go
i am seriously considering selling my entire drum and bass collection. i need some good cd players badly. i am having to source out equipment each week, and use pieces that are not allowing me to properly do what i need to do. in other words, i want some pioneer 800s. whew, hefty, and cases, too. i would simply feel like i was cheating myself to buy anything less than those. i do not want debt, so i am going to do it cash, somehow. (i am determined, can you tell?)
there are a couple of routes i could take. i could sell them to an individual. there is only one individual i know who would love these records as much, if not more, than i have. i have contacted him to see what he thinks about all of this. he also is aware of the value of my collection. i would never expect him to pay me 10k, but i do know that he would offer me something fair, or pass. honest guy, and he will not use these pieces of music with the wrong energy. we could also drive and meet halfway between here and cincy if it ended up being cheaper than shipping.
otherwise it is ebay. i dread doing it that way. it involves a lot of time cataloguing and photographing, and it is such a crapshoot. it all depends on who happens to be looking for some records that week, and if they are in any way knowledgable about the history of drum and bass, and what the records are truly worth. most all of these are out of print, many of them rare, promo. you just do not find them anywhere anymore.
i am going to meditate on it. certainly they are not doing anyone much good sitting there collecting dust except for the one night a year that i play them. it is time to let go.

i am not sure if ebay is the best way.
there is a nother way (i can't remember exactly, i will ask chris), where you just put the UPC# (or whatever it is called). he sold some of his rare records on ebay, one by one, but then got tired and sold a collection of stuff. good luck with it, and yeah, if you use them just once a year, it is probably not work having it...
