it was bound to happen…

jah isaac loves to listen to music in my headphones. so i let him when he is back here with me, listen to yummy stuff like herbie hancock and house music.

the drawback is that he is three, and not too keen on putting things where they go. in my normal fifth gear yesterday, i walked in to my studio and promptly stepped on my headphones.

they still work, both ears, so they can still be used for deejaying, but i have to get a new pair because they are going to drive me bonkers. i like the tension they have when i let the right earpiece cock back while i am mixing, and now it is all janky. the darn things are already too big for my head even on the smallest setting - they obviously were designed with bigger heads in mind, hah!

in other news, i am officially applied on both ends for an assistant store manager position at the Evil Empire - Starbucks. yeah, yeah, i know, i am supposed to be all grassroots, but it turns out that this is no walmart we are talking about here. excellent benefits and the timing is such that i could stand to be in a good position to move up within a reasonable amount of time. plus, a free pound of coffee per week. i think i would be a good manager, and i love coffee, so we will see what happens. definitely have paid my dues with nearly four years cleaning houses, that is for sure.

Starbucks is really not that bad. They actually promote alot of good in free trade coffee. Plus they are one of the top 100 companies to work for according to fortune magazine.. Good luck!!

i have learned a whole lot more about the company since i looked into the job. turns out they are very progressive about things like insurance - it is virtually unheard of in memphis to be able to put a domestic partner on your insurance plan, yet they allow that. pretty neat.

also cool about this position is that it would be non-exempt, so if i work overtime i get paid for it, which will be nice considering that i am going to have a big adjustment just working a full 40. we'll see. they have not even called me yet.
