		<description>absolutely on the balance thing. there are a lot of very educational games now for kids his age, and he will be doing it with me, because he still needs my help. so there is involvement. the main things to focus on are continued reading of regular wonderful old books, avoiding violent games, and getting outside and running around.</description>

		<description>heheh. well see how that stance on the video games holds up when hes twelve. kidding, kidding, but i'm actually a huge proponent of the video games for kids. on alot of levels, i believe video games can be a really really positive force. ya got your hand/eye, you got your problem solving/decision making, creative thinking, you got your work/reward cycle, you got imagination, patience, determination, rythm even, computer skills, and in some contexts you even got some gen-u-wine education going on. there is definitely a dark side too... my little brothers would literally live in their videogames if they could...or sean and his stack of pizza boxes for example. =]. it can easily get out of hand, but just like everything fun, its all about the balance. just my.02
