Saturna

kind of a fast update. this past saturday was busy and fun and inspiring. i had a crazy lineup of plans to pack into one night of babysitting, and it all worked out, amazingly.

first was a red bull music academy info session that a couple of friends from nashville came down to put together. turned out i did not have a ride to that so i called mary jane, another deejay here in town, to see if she wanted to go. she picked me up and we ended up being the only people there. turned out perfectly and was very inspiring. terrance parker was there with a friend of his, mo reese, and the three hour in depth talk with them about making things happen, red bull or not, was extremely motivating.

then jason swung by to grab me because mr. white had given us free tickets to the indie impact memphis show. he had told me he was performing, but i really had no idea. really, truly amazing house music, live, six singers, three horn players - catchy, meaningful, and positive. then al capone played right after that, which was a bit of a shocker, but then the whole point of that event was to juxtapose all different sorts of performers.

then it was a mad dash to the poplar lounge, the biggest dive bar, for a gig i was to play. it was pretty dead, but i did not care. i tried to play like there was a full house, which was not so hard once the system was tweaked and i got into some new tunes i picked up.

after that it was to dish to hear terrance parker for a little while before picking isaac up. that went ok. not exactly sure i will ever be totally comfortable in there anymore, but it was good to see a few people, and the staff seemed really happy to see me.

the night was inspiring, but i am done talking about it. i have two houses to clean tomorrow, a job interview immediately following, and two different mixes i need to make this week. whew. wish me luck, on all of that - the mixes (which i will talk more about when i am done) and the interview for the full-time side job.
