i heart harry pottey
hard to believe that i never had a catergory about reading until now, silly me.
i am deeply immersed in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. this surprises me. i was never one to read anything fantasy/magic related, but i happened upon the movies, and went to see the Goblet of Fire in the theater a couple of months ago. it was wonderful.
i decided then to read the series, but didn't think about it again until one night when i was stumped on whatever book i was trying to read. i did my normal of going through the bookcases, the random stash spots, jah isaac's bookcases (in case of toddler misplacement) and even the plastic storage boxes of books, thinking i was crazy for even bothering since i know i have read it all. magically, there were the first two of the series.
i blew through those and have been blowing through the rest ever since. the first three are fairly short in length, but the fourth doubles in length, as do the last two books. i am almost done with the fourth and bought the Order of the Phoenix today. unfortunately, the series is so popular that i have been unable to find used copies, but new ones are under ten dollars.
i love getting to know the characters over a span of time, their lives having a chance to spread out. i love not having to decide what to read after i am done with a particularly good book. i doubt i will read this series over and over again as i did Frank Herbert's Dune Chronicles, but i am enjoying the english humor, the daring and nobility of Harry, the tempermentalness of Ron, and the aggravating, yet endearing, overachievement of Hermoine, who scarily reminds me of myself.
i am considering the Chronicles of Narnia once i am done with this series, and awaiting the final book. i suspect that the writing style will be far stiffer, but will give it a try.
ps - isaac found some empty frames at weezer's - he wears them around saying "i harry pottey!"
