blown away…

..by my son tonight.

he and i ventured to the Trolley Tour tonight. i often play this event, which is held on the last friday of every month. all the art galleries have openings and shoppes have sales and people are out and checking the scene.

very gentrified, downtown neighborhood, much like my beloved midtown. i even saw a sign posted just in front of the Lorraine Motel which said: "Gentrification is a violation of civil liberties."

such a dichotomy for me in my heart there, because i identify with being the "funky" element which makes an area "cool," which then drives the property values up so high that i cannot even afford a decent place in my own stomping ground. yet, i benefit from playing in these areas or seeing my friends play.

anyway, the bigger point as i digress, is that my son is such a wonderful, vibrant, amazing human being. we hung tight tonight. we saw all the art, talked about it, heard two good deejays, and he even begged for a haircut ("please, mom! pleeeeaasseee!!!), which Dara quickly obliged.

every single person who asked his age was floored that he is not even four years old - impressed with his vocabulary, his intensity, his presence.

a good night. thanks, buddy. i had super-fun!

  1. MOM:

Lorin, you will treasure these memories all your life. So cool his becoming a real little man....Actually he reminds me of you and Colin. It is just such a joy to see your childrens' minds develop. Since you dont remember many times that were so fun, i am writing you and Colin each a journal. Not to be given to you for at least 27 more years...that is how long i am going to live. And Jah Isaac will know me and probably get the latest 5-speed car I drive. xoxo..weezer
