blogging on mom’s orders!

ok, ok, ok. here i am. with a pretty long entry, even. but first, thank you mom, for being my number one fan and constant support.

so, several things to share with you folks, if anyone is still around!

first, and most time sensitive, is this party tomorrow night. please come, it will be awesome!

and then, i had the best time in Miami! i danced about six to eight hours a day, i heard about forty deejays perform, and only missed two that i really wanted to hear. both of my sets went extremely well, with the second one perhaps being one of the best sets i have ever played. one of the more revelatory elements of the whole trip was meeting lots of folks who i have been following musically for years, hearing them play, and them treating me as a colleague by the end of it all. gave about 100 cds and many many more cards. truly a wonderful experience, beyond my expectations. you can find my photos in the gallery under "WMC 08" - i still have a few to add, but i am a bit behind on uploading photos, imagine that!

i am generally moving and shaking on all kinds of levels. singing more, in public, even. working in the studio in a producer way - like lending my ear to advise others what to do with their mixdowns, etc. about to lay some vocals there, too. would love to get some out of town gigs again soon. i love to travel and share my music.

also about to get a better car and a new computer. thank you tax return and stimulus money! (even though, i hate to say, that money has got to come from somewhere and will surely bite us all on the ass later in some way.) now, an interesting and flexible daytime job that pays super well i just know is working its way towards me! hehehhe.

jah isaac, who is a loving and amazing boy who is growing so fast, is testing me to my limits right now. i am assured this is quite normal by nearly everyone, but i find myself resenting it at moments, and having to call mom (thanks mom!) and take lots of baths. so let us all send out some energy for that to ease up, whew. i will say that he is quite the little singer these days, able to discern when he is off key, and also breakdown and describe song structure, tone, and emotion. pretty awesome, that.

i am sure there is much more, but i have one more thing for now. an awesome quote from a book i am reading right now called "Renato's Luck," by Jeff Shapiro:

"...i looked around after growing up some, and you know what i saw? the fabric of every life gets torn. if it hasn't happened yet to a person, it's enough to wait awhile. sooner or later the rip comes. somebody dies. love is lost. things change. sooner or later there's a rip. which isn't necessarily a bad thing. because that's when life begins. the interesting thing is what you do with life after it's been torn."

muchlove, everyone.
